Adobe with John Corcoran

John Corcoran's instructions for adobe making and building techniques could come in handy for so many displaced people in our world who desperately need to take control of their destiny now. In the Gaza strip, due to necessity, there is a total revival of adobe homes after the last violent invasion . Might adobe offer an alternative to the mushrooming tent cities surrounding metropolis in this country as well?
The Ecoversity produced videos on "Adobe (2) provide insight in how to make and use the cheapest and most available building material of all: Adobe bricks and mortar.
Adobe is some work, but when you do it together it is ...."a lot of fun", as someone remarks. "And it goes pretty quick..."
Thanks John, for sharing with the world !

Anacecilia sees Hail for the first time

Anacecilia R. S., a Shipibo woman from Amazonia looks at hail for the first time in her life while visiting Santa Fe during the month of July.

This visit was the second time that Anacecilia represented the tribal arts of her extended family at the International Folk Art Market in Santa Fe NM, where this freak hail storm happened at the end of July. Pretty unusual....

International Santa Fe Folk Art Market

I just got back from the Netherlands last Tuesday and I hit the ground running. One of the Shipibo Konibo Artists, Anacecilia Rojas Soria (featured in Ecoversity's case focus: report from the forest) participated last weekend in the Santa Fe International Folk Art market --it was a spectacular event and mostly any sense of crisis seemed far away: people took in the best arts and crafts from all over the world, and mostly bought the small things.

To make it really short: it was a privilige to be among so many accomplished artists from some 50 countries around the world and the American volunteerism to make it all happen was unprecedented here in Santa Fe. Here are the portraits of some of the people that participated. I felt in meeting them that I am the son and brother of all. There is incredible beauty and strength in the diversity of who we are as human beings.
